Nurses are pivotal in shaping health policy, driving public health initiatives, and serving as trusted educators on critical health, wellness, and safety issues, leveraging their frontline experience to influence positive change at every level of society. Leveraging her extensive experience as a frontline nurse and media correspondent, “Nurse Alice” Benjamin, MSN, ACNS-BC, FNP-C will provide actionable strategies for nurses to effectively communicate their clinical insights and experiences through media channels. Attendees will learn how to become influential voices in public health discussions, advocate for policy changes, and educate the public on critical health and safety issues, ultimately advancing the nursing profession and improving patient outcomes.
By the end of this session, you will be able to:
- Understand the Role of Nurses in Media and Policy: Recognize the unique position of nurses as trusted voices in media and how they can influence health policy, public health, and safety through effective media engagement.
- Develop Strategies for Public Communication: Learn how to translate bedside experiences into impactful messages that inform the public on health, wellness, and safety, while advocating for policies that enhance patient care and the nursing profession.
- Explore the Impact of Media on Health Policy and Public Education: Analyze case studies where nurses have successfully used media to drive health policy changes and educate the public on vital health issues, applying these lessons to your own advocacy and communication efforts.
One (1) CE contact hour will be awarded after completing the program and course evaluation for first 90 days. CEs will be provided by Nurse Approved, LLC, a California BRN approved Continuing Education Provider license/certification number 17734. This information can be verified on the Department of Consumer Affairs License Search site by the California Board of Registered Nurses
